2017 HVFFF Poster Final

Allen Fly Fishing & Streem Outdoors are pleased to announce that they are hosting the 8th Annual Heber Valley Fly Fishing Festival & Kids Fly Fishing Derby. We hope you will join us for a fantastic day of fly fishing festivities that are entirely free to the public courtesy of  Allen Fly Fishing & Streem Outdoors!Anglers of all skill levels are welcomed and encouraged to attend the event so that they may both learn new techniques and fine-tune their skills via the free classes, clinics and demonstrations being offered throughout the weekend by local fly fishing guides & industry experts. Clinics will be held both on and off the water and will be covering both a wide-array of topics and skill levels this year; topics to include basic casting techniques, hands-on casting instruction for intermediate-level situations, “how-to’s” on nymphing technique specific to the Provo River & on the logistics involved with introducing your children to fly fishing, fly tying & leader building demonstrations and much more! Then, on Saturday the 12th only we will offer 2-3 advanced level Euro Nymphing on-the-water clinics with USA Fly Fishing Team member Lance Egan; a clinic like these with a world-class angler would normally run hundreds of dollars to attend but will be available at no-cost courtesy of Fly Fish Food of Orem.

The Heber Valley Fly Fishing Festival will have
better than 70 vendors, artisans and fly club booths, along with a number of industry experts on hand this year so there will be plenty to do, see and try out while there!  Come by and cast the full spectrum of fly rod types available on the market today and see which one is the best fit for your fishing style and needs. Representatives from major players in the industry, as well as local expert guides will be on hand to answer questions & offer up tips and pointers. The “Bring Your Own Rod” fly line demo on Saturday the 12th is new this year courtesy of our sponsor Scientific Anglers; SA is spooling up 50 of their best fly lines in 5wt, 8 wt & 10 weights so that anglers may truly demo a variety of lines and determine which will best suit their needs.

The Provo River Kids Fly Fishing Derby, now sponsored by Adams Built, will be back again this year and is open to kids ages 15 and under. The derby is a catch and release only event that may be fished anywhere on the Middle Provo River & participants must have a parent or legal guardian present at all times; prizes will be awarded the same day for top finishers in each age group and will include several brand-new Adam's Built rod & reel combo rigs. Registration for the Provo River Kids Fly Fishing Derby will be held at the festival information booth beginning at 10am or you may pre-register your child on by contacting Julie at Hebervalleyflyfishingfestival.com.  We will have volunteers on hand to help get your kidlets up to speed should they be new to fly fishing & a LIMITED number of loaner fly rods for those who may not have their own gear. The kids’ derby is open to the first 50 children who register for the event so it may be a good idea to opt for the pre-registration if at all possible.
Of course there will also be some friendly competition for the big kids too with Fly Casting Golf and our popular ISE caliber Casting Competition, sponsored by Allen Fly Fishing
& RIO for both distance and accuracy; top finishers in the amateur and pro divisions will be awarded a new Icon II fly rod the same day of the competitions. We will have a fabulous selection of auction items available this year as well; everything from a single-day, guided trips on fabled waters such as Montana’s Madison River & Idaho’s Silver Creek to fly rods to a one-of-a-kind commissioned piece of art featuring your own “hero shot” from Travis Sylvester and more all in an effort to fundraise for Project Healing Waters of SLC.  Project Healing Waters works with disabled vets to help them re-engage with "normal" life upon returning home from service and all proceeds from the festival will be for the benefit of the group this year.
Finally, we hope you will join us for the free live music from Utah’s own Brian Bingham & the Backyard Revival & for the free community BBQ that is being prepared by the International Dutch Oven Society; the free music and food will run Friday evening only from 5pm to 8 pm.
